Finding Solitude In Solo Card Games

There are so many different types of casino gamers out there: the boisterous, cantankerous attention hogs we see in poker at all levels. There’s the reserved blackjack player who might sit at the same table all night, showing little to no emotion, and there are the online players, who make up an increasingly large section of the casino gaming market.

Again, you can find ones that are lively, active in the in-game chat, goading other players, and there are others you won’t get a peep out of. Regardless of how you approach a game, solo card games are meant as a form of relaxation and escape, whether you are a solitaire fan, a poker aficionado, or enjoy a few hits of blackjack.

Digital Solace - The Rise Of Online Tables

For introverts who are partial to a bet, the rise of online casino gaming was a fantastic addition to the ecosystem, especially for those who liked poker but did not want to deal with the rowdiness and social element of the conventional game. Since the beginning of the online poker boom, we’ve seen a number of innovations take hold. Poker rooms at Bovada provide an insight into the fabric of the current market.

As digital assets start playing a more significant role in the way we access online poker, it is again another design that channels into the solitude of seeking out these platforms so that we can play a hand or two from the peace and comfort of our own home.

Cryptocurrency is decentralized, operates on a direct peer to peer blockchain network, thus removing the need for additional parties, and you only need a cryptocurrency wallet to get started. This digital-only form of payment in casino gaming has created a dynamic where every element of the industry is entirely digital, no longer reliant on older payment systems.

Tapping Into The Global Market

It’s a unique situation where a market becomes exponentially larger, but the individual experience becomes far more personalized. Before the rise of online gambling, solitaire was the original form of solitude gaming. While the modern market is awash with so many things attached to solitaire, such as strategies for the game, and the rise of online communities where players can talk strategy, it’s a solo game that predates the internet, computers, and goes back centuries.

Some may argue that blackjack and poker are not truly solo games, as you have to face off against other players. It’s a much stronger argument, if you are discussing online tables as you will often only play from home on your own.

Personally, games like craps and roulette definitely have a social element to them; you’re not playing against other players in the same way you are in poker or blackjack, per se. People are more open and social, particularly in conventional roulette and craps gaming settings.

The rise of the online market has meant that those who prefer the social element can still find it via live tables, interactive dealers, in-game chats, and, of course, conventional avenues. In contrast, introverts and those who need some downtime and solo peace can access games where players are more withdrawn and reserved, instead of having to navigate social settings as an introvert.

Introverts Vs Extroverts

For those who prefer the grandiose nature of high-stakes and high-octane gambling, the internet is still full of great entertainment, ideas, and online brands that are more than happy to tap into the “louder” elements of the industry. As you can see in the link below, plenty of ideas are emerging on social media with big concepts and ambition.

It depends on your personality type. Solitude can be found in so many forms in solo games. Due to the vastness of the internet, there’s just so much available for all personality types. Be sure to shop around, find the games or gaming platforms you like the look of most, and base your downtime around it.

Keeping Your Solace Battery Charged

Solitude can be found in many places, but if you are looking for something to focus your mind and not have to pay attention to anybody else other than the game, then solitaire is at the top of the podium for solo card games, where you can be left with your own thoughts.

Some animals thrive on being alone, and while this is a much broader discussion for another time, you know yourself where you can find the most solitude, whether you are playing a solo card game or embarking on another activity.

For me, solitaire helps balance my mind and can help the time drift away. Not only that, it is a game where the brain is fully engaged, and, unlike say, poker, you don’t have to worry about the sleight of hand, or psychological tactics and tricks from other players. It’s not for everyone; it is a game of patience. It can take a long time.

The literal French translation is “lonely” - and while that sounds tragic, especially to people who just prefer their own company (of which I am one), it’s about finding solitude and cutting out the noise. I have yet to find a game that does this as effectively as solitaire, but solo blackjack and poker have similarities, too.
